In 1948, several businessmen from the Chicago area had a vision to start a Christian youth camp where children and teens could hear about God's love for them through the teaching of the Gospel, as well as providing opportunity to enjoy various recreational activities. These men purchased the property now known as Lake Geneva Youth Camp and Conference Center.
After the property was purchased, the Plymouth Brethren Assemblies from the Chicago area sent up crews to do whatever was necessary to ready the camp for children. These tasks included things such as converting chicken coops to cabins, working with state regulators, constructing new buildings and cleaning and transforming a farm into a youth camp. In 1950, Lake Geneva Youth Camp had their first summer of camps, consisting of two boys' weeks and two girls' weeks. Over the years, more buildings were renovated to accommodate a retreat and conference center.
Many things have changed since that first summer, but the vision remains the same. We remain committed to the teaching of the Bible and we continue to strive for excellence in order to provide an atmosphere necessary for spiritual growth. Today the camp program serves approximately 1,200 young people during the eight weeks of summer with a volunteer staff of over 400 dedicated people.
Our conference center(s) now operate year-round, and over 16,000 guests are served annually!
Today we operate as a non-demoninational Christian Camp and Conference Center.
In all we do, we endeavor to give the honor and glory to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
