Church Leader

A Word for Pastors and Ministry Leaders on the Role of Camp

Dear Church Leader, you are needed here.

As Christians, we are united by the Holy Spirit with the entire family of God. It's a family that extends beyond our city, beyond our nation, and beyond our generation. Praise God!

Here at Lake Geneva Ministries, we are a team of sinners saved by grace who make up a fraction of that family.

We cherish the opportunity to be a place set apart for life-changing experiences in Christ. Driven by our passion for Jesus Christ and our love for His image-bearers, we long to see every individual who steps foot on our grounds transformed as they experience Him.

That said, we are not a church. We recognize that the local expression of the body of Christ, gathering regularly -- put simply, "the local church" -- is critical in the life of the Christian and is uniquely empowered by God to bring the Good News to a hurting world. That's why we are committed to working in partnership with the local church, not independent of it.

As a parachurch ministry, our heart is to be a resource for the church, promoting the growth of the body and building it up in love. We care deeply about the role you play as a church leader and it is our goal to support you in that work.

You will be hard pressed to find another place like camp, where people can disconnect from the pressures of daily life (including but not limited to screens) and engage with deep matters of the heart (including their identity, their relationships, and their faith).

At summer camp in particular, the cabin leaders present during a student's camp experience are instrumental in nurturing an environment of reflection, discussion, and ever-deepening devotion to the Lord.

When a church leader accompanies a student as their cabin leader, the impacts are multiplied. First, church leaders have the advantage of relational history, making their discussions much more personal and fruitful from Day One. Additionally, church leaders have the blessing and responsibility of returning "home" with their students to continue the discipleship conversations. Say goodbye to the stereotypical "Camp High" and say hello to a launchpad for ongoing spiritual growth as leaders support campers in maintaining their intimacy with the Lord well beyond the week of camp.

Camp is a more effective place for life-change when we have you.

And that's true year-round.

Dear Church Leader, you are welcome here.

From Fall Blast and Arctic Blast to Family Camp, and more, there are so many amazing opportunities waiting for you -- opportunities for you and your church to jump in on highly relational, memorable experiences; opportunities where you don't have to coordinate chapel sessions or activity schedules but can focus on connecting with your students.

So, consider this your invitation, as we enter the 2025-2026 school year, to put camp on your calendar. Come take advantage of this special resource that is Lake Geneva Ministries -- this place set apart for life-changing experiences in Christ.

Maybe you've never been to our properties; or maybe it's been a while, and you haven't seen our recent improvements. If that's you, I would love for you to come and see Lake Geneva Youth Camp and/or Conference Point Center in-person. A tour is a great first step in discovering what God is doing here at Lake Geneva Ministries.

As we facilitate these life-changing camp programs, it is such a privilege that we get to be part of building up the Church.

Will your local expression join us this year?
